Scrapping Freebie: Pretty Floral Overlay + 15 Sample Papers

Here’s a belated New Year’s gift to everyone. And since I can’t possibly afford to give all my blog readers avo cigar so I made a brand new freebie pack for download.

I was making a background pattern for one of my blogs and I wanted a floral background. I was experimenting with various color schemes so I decided to make an overlay so I could easily change backgrounds and mix and match to my heart’s content. This is a free pattern I downloaded from PatternCooler.com and I cooked it up on Photoshop, adjusted the levels, removed the background till I had the overlay.

On this freebie pack, I’m including 1 white overlay .png + 1 black overlay .png. I’m also including the PSD file so you can just easily change the color of the flowers. Alternatively, you can also use the PNG overlay then clip a color/texture/pattern on top for variation.

Scrapping Freebie: Coffee Stripes Pattern + Papers

Time for some freebies! And I am still on the pattern making spree. Lol. I know this would never get old with me. And I think I’ll be pattern obsessed for sometime, so till I see patterns as fly sheets, then we’ll be having occasional pattern freebies in here.

I was playing around with Color Schemer one rainy afternoon and I was thinking of coffee. A strong chocolate-y and warm brew of coffee, and I ended up picking out some color schemes related to coffee. What to do with these colors? I figured I should probably make some patterns. Stripe patterns to be exact.

And here’s what I made. 8 Patterns all mocha-brownish, with some tinged with palest pink (coz I was then thinking of cupcakes lol) and one a bit green tinted coz I was thinking of Starbucks coffee cup. The freebie includes

  • 8 .jpg seamless pattern files (for use as backgrounds etc)
  • 1 .pat file for Photoshop (includes all 8 patterns)
  • 8 scrapping papers using the patterns – grunge style. :)

This is free for Commercial Use (CU) and hope you guys have fun with it..

Design Resource: Shizoo Design

Before you check out this design resource I’m featuring, make sure your laptop batteries are fully charged or plugged in. Lol. You’ll be going gaga downloading cute stuff. Whenever I venture on this resource site, I always prepare myself for a downloading frenzy.

Trust me they have super cute stuff!

I found this site via Deviant Art and now they have their own website where your can get your fill of cute graphic goodness. I LOVE their brushes (especially those that look watercolored, text and grunge brushes). It’s also a must to check out their pattern and texture page. They are awesome, especially if you are looking for some cute background textures for a web or any graphic design projects.

In fact, this is where I get the backgrounds I use for my personal blogs.

The resource site I am raving about is Shizoo Design - your daily websource drug. You can also check out their Deviant Art page.

Design Resource: Web Treats ETC

I’m currently working on something nice for digital scrapbookers and will be posting it on my Tuesday Freebie next week. Yesterday, I had been browsing around for nice patterns, while I’m supposed to be looking for flexible metal hose! Sigh. No wonder I could never get anything finished on time, I get easily distracted. Anyway, while I was looking for seamless patterns I came across a website offering freebies – icons, textures, wallpapers, patterns, and even wordpress themes.

I downloaded a few of their patterns and I love it! Good quality patterns and especially if you love ‘vintage’ themed designs you’d love this site. And the best thing is that their freebies are free for personal or commercial work. The site is called Web Treats ETC and its worth bookmarking if you are a designing or scrapping enthusiast.

Featured Design Resource: Pattern Cooler

Creating seamless patterns can be easily done if you know your way around a graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. But this can be time consuming, and frankly though I can create patterns from scratch, I’d much rather not coz we’ve already established that I’m a lazy dweeb and also there are various resources online you can use for your pattern needs.

And here’s one of my most favorites – Pattern Cooler. And its FREE. Yes, its FREE. There are ready made patterns you can choose from and download directly or you can also use their very cool Pattern Editor to tweak the color combinations of patterns. And the patterns you can come up with is virtually unlimited.

They have thousands of base patterns you can tweak. Also one thing about this is that you can resize your patterns!! That is a huge relief for me coz sometimes patterns look good when they are small while others work best when they are supersized.

Their terms of use are pretty flexible. You can use the patterns for personal or commercial work. But I think, really its a must to give out something to the people behind this cool tool. I have yet to use this for commercial work but for now since I get so much fun tweaking patterns there, they are deserving of this post.

Check them out if you need seamless patterns for your graphic design projects or even for your Twitter backgrounds.
