Scrapping Freebie: Floral Frames in Cupcake Stripes

Time for some freebies again! Took me more than a week to have this posted. I’ve started making this a few weeks ago, but I stalled. Perhaps I found crowd control rope stanchions to be not that inspiring. Truth is, I’ve been really busy with some web dev work that I found myself uninspired to do something creative.

But the great thing is that, I found out, I could get inspired by stuff I made previously. This time, I just took a look at my freebie: Cupcake Inspired Stripe Patterns and decided, yeah I have to make frames (preferably cute ones) based on this. If you haven’t downloaded the patterns, download it now. I love patterns! You can do lots and lots and lots with it. The variations are practically endless.

And here’s the Floral Frames I dressed up with my cupcake stripes pattern. Total of 5 .png frames so you can use it in most scrapping and layout-ing softwares.

Scrapping Freebie: Floral Frames in Cupcake Stripes

Download Free but  first.

This is free for personal and commercial use. You may use it any way you want, even for stuff you will be reselling. My only limitation is for you not to distribute it as it is,unmodified and also please do not claim this as your own. Please feel free to share this with others by recommending the download links.

A Big Thanks

I must confess to losing a bit of mojo a few months ago, when it comes to posting here. Why? If you had been visiting this blog, I’m sure you would have noticed that I had Adsense ads on my sidebars. I know some blogging purists would argue against heavily monetizing a blog, but in my defense I added that extra income stream to help me out too to cover my domain and hosting bills.

While I think I am really generous when it comes to giving out freebies and having other people use it, I am also aware that maintaining a website like this also costs money. Of course, I don’t have bottomless pits of money (I wish!) so I opted to add some ads for a bit of revenue.

Then my world crashed down (at least this little blog’s world hahaha!) when I got an email from the big G saying that this site does not qualify to run their ads coz of yaddah yaddah yaddah and also I feature copyrighted content. That hit me in the gut to be honest coz for one, I work/slave for the freebies I post here. It’s no joke to produce freebie stuff and to be called as someone hosting copyrighted content just disheartened me a lot.

But a day or two after, I realized, they are WRONG! So I should stop being morose about it. Freebies I made are mine and not copyrighted by others. And if I ever use any resource (fonts, base patterns, vectors etc) I make sure they are free to use, and I take extra care to check if they allow personal and commercial use and their terms and tag my freebies accordingly. I am also adamant about linking to whatever web resource were used to produce my free items. And I have NEVER EVER posted a work done by others as is, that I did not heavily modify on my own. I sometimes use resources (I’m sure graphic artists would know this) like textures or fonts from other artists as background, embellishment and always with credit. And in any case, like 90% of my freebies here are made from scratch by me and took me hours, sometimes days to make.

So why was I flagged down? When a gazillion other sites host pirated content but are allowed to get away with it? But no, I did not bother to contest their decision. It’s not worth the effort and besides my earnings from them were just a pittance for this site and could not even seriously buy me my tanning supply. So goodbye Adsense and now I am exploring other income streams.

After all that brouhahaha now I’m really fine with their decision and it did not affect my desire to share whatever creative stuff I come up with for those who can use it. And you know what? My biggest reward is getting comments, especially emailed thanks from scrappers thanking me for the freebies. Also the incoming links from various other sites promoting my work. How cool is that?  And this afternoon I was cleaning out my mediafire account and I was happily surprised coz my freebies had been getting dozens and dozens of downloads.

thank you

I never imagined that. So I feel good about this and happy that at least some folks find my postings useful. Thanks so much everyone. More creative freebies in the works for all of you..

Random Blurb…

I’m cooking some stripe pattern again as my freebie this week. It’s still on the oven. Lol. So I’m blabbing a bit here while I wait for it to cook  be finished. Ha!

As you can see, I missed a couple of weeks of freebies mainly because I was on travel, then when I got back I got really busy. I have language classes, driving lessons, online and web development work. All of that on top of mommy and wifey duties. So if I need to look for godin a4 ultra I really don’t have the time nor the inclination anymore. Sigh.

While I am still very busy I still take time to do graphic design work and doodle on my freebies coz its my way of recharging my batteries. When I fire up my Photoshop or Illustrator, I tend to relax a bit and get creative juices flowing. So check out my latest freebie which I’ll be posting soon after this post.

Ciao! Till later.

Music in My Mind

I was having this little conversation with my sister about our being musically dis-inclined. Both of us are creative types. Same with my brother. Let’s just say we come from a family of artists. But I think our creative gifts doesn’t extend to music. Lol. All of us are tone deaf.

Though we appreciate music but we all could not play any musical instruments although we did try to do so when we were still young. I guess our musical gifts were inversely proportional to our illustration gifts. No matter how hard I try I could never grasp the how to’s to music much less know what asnark tuner is.

But then again, not everyone can have all ‘gifts’ right? So I’m quite resigned and happy to the fact that the best I can do is appreciate music by listening to it and occasionally humming to it while taking a shower.

Which leads me to conclude that whatever creative gifts we’ve been handed, its best that we try to be better at it. And if there is a way for us to expand and do other things, learn other things, then all the better. But if we aren’t meant to perfect playing the clarinet while being an illustrator, then move on and be happy we were at least talented in one area.

Artscow Kit: Elegantly Dainty Flordeliz

I have yet to get back to designing. I have loads of new ideas but really no time to start doing it. I’ve also been neglecting making free kits for Artscow and I do plan to rectify that soon. This time though I have my hands full, reorganizing my computer and reorganizing our house. Staying months away from our house guarantees a lot of work when you return so now I have loads of chores, things to repair like our undermount sink, stuff to look for. Sigh. Its almost never ending but thankfully I think I’m making a lot of headway. At least now I have my Photoshop already running and soon you’ll be seeing new stuff here.

Anyway for now, I’d like to show you guys the third kit I made for Artscow called Dainty Flordeliz. And I really love it. I think I made some headway already compared to the first ones I made, at least this one is a fraction more polished. I also like the pale, subdued colors. I was aiming for something dainty and elegant, and I was actually thinking of a wedding theme when I made this.

It contains an alphabet collection in pale gold, floral and lace embellishments,a huge assortments of frames and silk and lace backgrounds. This kit is for FREE, you can use it when making our Artscow personalized products. Hope you guys like it :) )

And here’s some product templates I made with the kit. You can use these as templates or you can get creative and use the kit anyway you wanna make it look..

Floating in Music

When I’m working on something creative, I like listening to music. Classics, instrumentals are usually my staple music to lull me into a really creative mood. When I was not home for a few months, hubby prepared a really nice surprise for me. He bought me surround speakers!! Yay! for me coz now I feel like I’m floating in music. The downside though is that instead of working I find myself getting sleepy.

I guess I haven’t really adjusted back to my old working schedule. This would take a bit of time. I have actually done installing all the programs I need so I could get back into my graphic designing and digi scrapbooking hobby but I have yet to start a single project. Sigh. A really big sigh. I’m still catching up with a lot of chores around the house. Its really not the same as when I was home and doing the chores myself. I’m still doing spot cleaning and thank God I have my music with me.

Anyway, hopefully I could come up with new scrapping kits and of course freebies for my Tuesday Freebies project. Wish me lots of luck!

Hello Again…

Yup! I’m here after a few weeks of absence. And while its great to be back, I was looking at the blog and sigh! it needs to be updated soon. I haven’t been doing anything creative the past weeks and I’m simply at a loss on where to start again.. Graphic designing and scrapbooking is on hold for at least a few days since I’m using a new computer and I’m still not done installing the software.

While I was away I had been a bit hooked on observing my cousin sew. This definitely rekindled my desire to sew.. not clothes but handbags! Yes, I hope I could find the time to realize this. But first things first I have to learn how to sew and get myself a sewing machine heh. Also, I kinda missed beading jewelry, and this time I feel like I want to work with seed beads and create statement and outrageous pieces. While I was on travel I found myself looking at necklace displays and I’m fascinated. But oh well, I dunno if I could have time for that now that my hands are full with being a mom and wife, maintaining and building blogs, and starting school pretty soon again.

Anyway, as for this site, expect more scrapping freebies and features. Also I’ll be revamping the whole look of the site so watch out for that.
