Design Resource: Color Blendy Google Chrome App

There are just days you need to have a few colors handy, or a color scheme for  a web tweaking project and you don’t want to fire up Adobe Photoshop. I get those days, often. Photoshop can be quite heavy and slows down the machine and this is would be a bit like pounding your head on hard laminate flooring specially when you need to have several apps running for work.

If you’re just in need of some colors and want to blend it without opening up a bulky graphic software, then Color Blendy App for Google Chrome Browser might just save you. I find this specially useful when tweaking or coding CSS and I want different color variations. The biggest plus would be the color codes, different modes like multiply, screen, dogde, burn etc.

The biggest draw would be: it works offline! It’s a native app not a bookmark so you can use it even without net connection. How cool is that?

Design Resource: Create Color Themes With Adobe Kuler

Another design resource, this time another web application focusing on color themes or color schemes. I’m a very visual person, I get inspired usually by just colors. I see a combination of colors and I could easily make it a base for a project. So I’m always on the lookout for cool color theme applications.

Of course, worth mentioning here is Adobe Kuler. It is a,

web-hosted application for generating color themes that can inspire any project. No matter what you’re creating, with Kuler you can experiment quickly with color variations and browse thousands of themes from the Kuler community.

What’s great about this is that, its totally FREE! And has an active community where you can share your color theme creations. I like how it creates schemes using images and also its mood selector. Here’s a sample with the picker set in various moods…

Great tool right? Get right ahead, bookmark and have fun playing with it. Who knows it might inspire a creative idea or two. As for me, I’ll be off now to look for alec bradley cigars for sale. Will be right back next week with a cool freebie. Ciao!

Inspired By Colors

You know what easily inspires me to create? Colors! I just see a combination of hues and I almost always think of some scenes with those colors. Although I know creative processes for different people are different, but for newbies like me, you might find it really helpful to jumpstart an idea with color schemes.

Since this technique is effective for me, whether I’m planning to make an digi scrap kit, a crochet project , a beaded jewelry, a template,or  any graphic design, I then make full use of online resources and some softwares to generate some color schemes I could work with.

One of my current favorites is Color Schemer. I spend hours tinkering with this software, making color combinations and saving them for future projects. It’s a breeze to use and offers a lot of ways you can generate a color schema. Another plus is its ability to generate ‘web safe’ html color codes and drag and drop colors to quick preview!

I took some screen shots of the main features of the Color Schemer.
