Preppy Choco Free Artscow Kit

Here’s my second kit for Artscow called Preppy Choco. My daughter and I had been snacking on some Kit-Kats and I suddenly wanted to create a kit with a brown-chocolate-ty look. I actually made the whole kit in just one day. And when I was done I had dark circles under my eye. I guess I was on my OC overdrive again. I think I’ll be needing dermitage soon if I keep obsessing like this and eating lots of chocolate.

Anyway, back to the kit. I find it cute and warm. Colors are brown, very pale yellow, cream..It’s also my first time making a kit with Alpha cum Tags. I still find a lot of things I needed to improve on specially shadowing but I’m glad a few people found the kit nice enough to use. To date it has been used 630+ times. Yay!

I also made a couple of templates for photobooks, cosmetic bags, keychains etc from the kit and I’ll be featuring that soon here.

First Try at Digital Scrapbook Kit Making

I’ve always loved crafts since I was a kid. When I was in primary school I used to remember making really unique school projects. I was always playing around with scrap papers, colors..I only took it up again though after I gave birth to my daughter. Having months on maternity leave left me itching to do something, anything with my hands.

Then I decided to do scrapbooking, using mainly photos of my child. It was fun and a great way {for me} to combat post partum depression. Then just recently I started experimenting with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator mostly for my then online shop and blogging graphic needs. This hobby eventually turned into a semi-obsession with lots of friends asking me to make banners and other design work for them.

I think this is one hobby that has held my interest for a long time already. Mainly because I used to have zero knowledge about digital design that I find it so much fun to hop about and read tutorials, try out what I learn and experiment. Sometimes, I can’t believe how many hours I put in designing stuff.

Then a few months ago, I came across Artscow online personalized gifts printing services while I was looking for someone to print personalized photo books. That’s where I fell in love with the idea of designing digital scrapbook kits. And I did plunge into it..

I find myself stumbling about how to do this and that. But I love it! Coz every time I wanna make something and I don’t know how, I just feel so excited about searching for tutorials, experimenting until I get what I really want.

Anyway, here’s my first try at kit making. I called the kit Dare to Be Vivid. Simply because its also a self-dare to try out something different. I picked bold and bright colors to give me that sense of bravado when I start things. I’m happy with it because I finished it after a looong time tweaking but objectively speaking, well, I have to learn a lot. Really a lot. But this is a step forward.
