Yay! Finally, I’ve gotten around to posting this. I made this a few weeks back after I finished making the Leaf PS Brushes. I was playing around with different ways I could use the brushes and before I knew it I had a couple of flower elements already.

Lol. It just took me time to clean things up a bit and ‘pack’ it for giveaway, I was too distracted with a letterhead prints project. Anyway, I don’t wanna delay it further, so here’s the freebie.

4 floral elements with leaves from the PS brushes freebie pack.

~ Download ~

Image credits: Photorack. This is free for all. You may use it anyway you want. My only condition is to not claim it as your own freebie. I spent hours too extracting and making this. Enjoy!

But while I was editing the previous freebie post, I got carried away with some tweaking and ended up dressing up the blog. I love Genesis Framework Theme for WordPress and that’s what I used + Eleven40 Child Theme.

I was having a hard time picking out the color scheme but I ended up choosing the orange one. Then I just had to change a few things like the fonts. I always have to play with fonts when it comes to my blogs. It’s one way of making your blog subtly different and you have to admit, it adds to the look of the whole site.

I’ll be off in a bit, coz I’ve got tons of errands to do and still have to look for ballet recital gifts here for my friend’s daughter. Watch out for the freebie.

Ola! I’m back with a freebie! And I hope with this freebie offering, I’ll be forgiven for leaving digi scrapbooking for awhile and getting seriously sidetracked with crocheting. Hmm, I know this would be much appreciated than say a snark tuner at GC?

Anyway, I have Photoshop brush pack for today. I picked out high resolution leaf images courtesy of Photo Rack. Then I cleaned it up in CS4, removed backgrounds then turned it into brushes. I was actually making this for a personal project but I ended up making a lot so I might as well share it with everyone.

For sure, you craftsy and creative digi-scrappers and graphic designers out there would find some cool use for these.

~ Download ~

This is free for Personal or Commercial Use. If you use it, link backs/credits are not required but if you do mention me, then the credit would be much appreciated. Feel free to use this any way you want and you may share this to others, but please do not host the freebie on your own site, nor should you claim it as your own. If you want to share it to others please just link to this post so your friends can download it.

I’m feeling extra generous so I also whipped some floral elements for digi-scrapbooking projects using the freebie above. I’ll be posting it next.

Yup. I’m suffering from some strange affliction: crochet!!! It’s a mania for me and I find myself crocheting at all hours. I’m absolutely nuts about it.

And right now its pretty hard to distract me from it. In fact, blogging and digi scrap design took a back seat when I rediscovered this mad addiction. Not even urgent blog tasks can tear from from doing my crocheting. Even if you tell me the led pool lights are busted, I can’t be convinced to let this go. Or at least give it a rest. Lol. To be honest, I’ve never been this hooked that whenever I go out, I’m always on the lookout for yarns.

But I do need to take a break. I’m particularly obsessing on making motifs and attaching them all together and make something unique. I might also be obsessed enough to eventually make my own patterns.

For now, here’s what’s keeping me crochet crazed..

Yay! I’m done. With my current crafting project. And I’m just being a big show off. Lol.

I know its just an easy project, beginners even, but I can’t help but be crazy happy that I managed to make this and actually finished it without thinking I’m turning my hands into straight hand wheels. Ha! I exaggerate.

Last week, I mentioned I’m back to crocheting mainly coz my yarn stash was crazy. And so I started making a case/sleeve for my Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch. This would also be great for readers. This is the tablet I use most often owing to its cutesy, easy to lug around size, so I wanted something to cozy it.

How to make this? I used a 4.5mm crochet hook.

1. Chain 34. Then on the next row begin with a double crochet on the next chain. Follow it by a single crochet. The single-double-single combination makes the row look a bit puffy and I just love that effect. You can adjust the bumber of chain if you want a loose fit. Chain an even number so you work on an odd number for each row.

2. Continue making the rows till you have reached the length for both sides.

3. Then start closing the sides using a single crochet.

4. As for the closing flap and button hole, I slip stitched 8 times on the ‘back panel’ then 8 sc on the next row, then repeat till I reached 3 rows. Then on the 4th row chain 10, sc 10 downwards (but slip stitch on the horizontal row) up to 3 rows. Then 2 sc, slip stitch 5 times, then 3 sc. (I slip stitched 5 times for the ‘button hole). Then 2 sc, then chain 5 times, then 3 sc. After that make 10 sc, repeat twice more, then fasten off.

This is what happens when I try to clean up. Ha! I end up with lots and lots of projects and ideas.

A few weeks before the Lunar New Year, we usually do massive house cleaning, and I found a huge box of yarns I bought a few years back and just stashed it there coz I didn’t have the time nor the discipline to take on a big crocheting project. But I think it’ll be a total waste to throw it all, since I do LOVE crocheting. So I figured I MUST find time.

So in between doing yoga and checking here for yoga bolsters, and mommy stuff I started a project.

I’m using this blue-white-grey acrylic yarn and making a 7″ tablet sleeve. I didn’t use any pattern coz I simply measured my tablet then used very simple single-double-single crochet stitches. I’m about to be finished and I’m too excited. Lol. This would definitely not be my last project. Next up, I’ll be making a sling bag for my daughter (her request) and I’ll be making a laptop sleeve for my lappy.

To be honest, I find this fun as well as therapeutic. I get to relax and its also good to be away from the idiot box once in awhile. And the sense of accomplishment one gets from finishing a crochet project is pure awesomeness.

Here’s a belated New Year’s gift to everyone. And since I can’t possibly afford to give all my blog readers avo cigar so I made a brand new freebie pack for download.

I was making a background pattern for one of my blogs and I wanted a floral background. I was experimenting with various color schemes so I decided to make an overlay so I could easily change backgrounds and mix and match to my heart’s content. This is a free pattern I downloaded from PatternCooler.com and I cooked it up on Photoshop, adjusted the levels, removed the background till I had the overlay.

On this freebie pack, I’m including 1 white overlay .png + 1 black overlay .png. I’m also including the PSD file so you can just easily change the color of the flowers. Alternatively, you can also use the PNG overlay then clip a color/texture/pattern on top for variation.

Download Freebie Overlay Pack | Download Freebie Sample Set #1

Also included here: 15 Background Papers in 3600×3600 sizes as samples. See how much variations you can achieve with a simple overlay? Hope you guys enjoy tweaking this one.

After my month long vacation, I found myself roped into crocheting again. In fact I had my crocheting needles with me the entire time we were moving from one place to another. And had a crazy time crocheting necklace scarves and belts. Right now I’m crocheting a laptop sleeve for my sister and also two tablet sleeves for myself and a friend.

So what brought on this crocheting frenzy? Easy. RedHeart.com. It. Is. Awesome. I found myself enamored with simple easy to do crocheting projects. To be honest, as much as I drool over big complicated projects, I can’t commit that much time and I know myself, if it takes too much time, I’m just guaranteed not to finish it. So when I was combing for some fashion accessory crocheting project I stumbled across RedHeart again. And got sucked into checking out each and every pattern they have. Lol.

Next up, I’m looking for a pattern for a violin case. Yes, a violin case. This would be a gift for a friend’s daughter who plays the violin. I’m definitely going the extra mile here. But RedHeart is just so inspiring so I’m sure I can do it. Who knows next time I’ll be crocheting and stitching up Mitchell Guitars cases? There is something so awesome and appealing to me about musical instruments sporting crocheted sleeves and cases.

This is another great creative outlet for me, but that’s not saying I’m gonna stop with scrap booking stuff. I’m just getting inspired in a different way and who knows I might get a lot of scrapping ideas from these recent creative find.

Nah. I’m not quitting blogging or designing. I just figured I needed a long break. And that’s mainly coz I’m on travel right now. So while mobile internet and wifi hotspots are all the rage now, I don’t like them. Perhaps I’m security conscious? Or I’m also short in patience when it comes to connections dropping now and then. Making seamless blogging close to impossible. So doing research for rapiddetect.com for 10 panel drug test and blog writing is out for a few weeks at least.

But the good news is that, since I’m usually offline, but still totting my laptop around, that means I’ve got more time hooked up on Photoshop and Illustrator so expect more cutesy freebies once I get back.

I might occasionally drop a post here and there within the coming weeks but that would be. Only when I’m feeling totally over creative and overwhelmingly generous.

I’ll consider this my gift to self this Christmas. A chance to relax. For real.
