Crochet Me Purple-y!

I had been itching to crochet something small, nice and pretty a few days ago. I guess I wasn’t in my ‘turn-on-the-idot-box’ and surf mindlessly then blog mood. When I’m like that I really go into hibernation mode and I spent a few hours in bed crocheting.  I was making crocheted flower appliqués but I shelved it coz I wanted to make something else.

Got myself a dark purple yarn, an elastic black hair band and made this…

I’m absolutely crazy about this shade of purple.. Lovely, bold and well, lovely. I know the number of photos of it is OTT but what the heck! I love it!!

Crocheting: Squares and More Squares

Here’s what I had been busy with this past two weeks. Making squares. I chose yellow and white combination coz I want something light and breezy. I plan to sew this altogether to make a throw cover for my working table. I want to put some cover on it coz usually at night I tend to just leave it be and dust really gathers. At least this one can provide some sort of dust protection over my computer and my notes/files.

I dunno when I’ll be done specially since the other day my nieces saw some pieces and begged me to give them some. I dunno what they’ll do with it but I didn’t have the heart to refuse.

Should work more.

Crochet and Knitting for A Cause

I was organizing my yarn box yesterday and I decided I wanna make something like a patchwork blanket/afghan. I have managed to collect a whole box of multi-colored yarns  and I was wondering what to do with them, so I just decided to make squares and just sew it all together to form a rectangular blanket. So I got on google and searched for simple but pretty crochet square patterns. One site came up that intrigued me coz I’ve been looking for patterns with cobbled look and they have it for FREE! The site is called HalfKnits.

They have some really wonderful patterns for squares plus my favorite would be their patterns for blanket edges. Do visit their site to download the patterns.

What’s Crocheting?

I like the title. Inspired by ‘What’s cooking?’ expression. Hahaha. So what is crocheting this time? I’m actually going crazy coz I’ve been trying to crochet a laptop sleeve. When I went on vacation last year {July} I got myself some mercerized cotton yarn in purple (2 shades) and also in green and orange.

I wanted to make a laptop sleeve from the purple yarn. I wanted it ‘striped’ with monocrome effect. One dark and lighter colors interchanging. But gah! until now I’ve only managed to crochet about an 2 inches x 15 inches of it. I’m just using single crochet all around and plan to add a lining under, then a button as closure. I really have to give this more time otherwise it will drive me nuts. See the photo below? the small lump of purple at the background is what I’ve done so far. Hahaha even that small lump seems to be hiding! Embarrassed probably by my procrastinating habit.

Anyway, at least on the orange and green combo I made a little progress. This is a headband for my daughter. Green band with an orange floral embellishment. Lovely contrast right?

I ‘m going to work more on this and of course would be featuring my finished products =)

Cute Colorful Scrunchie

Yes, I’m still crocheting right now. It’s a great stress reliever for me and I like crocheting while I’m watching a movie. But I’m just too busy to take on big crocheting projects so I can’t do afghans which I dearly want to do.

Here’s what I discovered I love making! Scrunchies. And they make wonderful gifts to little girls. I made a bunch last Christmas and gave it to the kids around the neighborhood and some nieces. And they love it!

This one, I did not follow any pattern. I just single crocheted all around a black elastic band, then on each SC I made a chain of 8, then slip stitch on the end, then chain again and slip stitch on the SC. Repeated this till I had a fringe all over the band.

I made this in lots of colors. So what’s the next project? Small flowers I could use embellish stuff. I’m also going to be scanning some crochet finished items and will be giving them out as Digital Scrapping elements. Soon.
