On My Coffee Mug Wishlist

Our cupboard is crammed full of coffee mugs. I love them with passion. And I could never get enough of photo coffee mugs. I’m a coffee and tea lover so this might explain the obsession but you must admit there are just some so quirky and unique mugs out there that its hard for me to resist them.

Take for instance, I went window surf shopping awhile ago and saw this: We Are Godesses Mug. I WANT! And this would make a perfect gift for girlfriends. This one’s available here.

Scrapping Freebie: Vintage Grunge Buttons PU Only

It’s been a crazy little while since I last posted a freebie. Not that I wasn’t making any more freebies and digi scrapping stuff, I was simply distracted with life. How I wish I could say I’ve been learning how to play BBE Guitars but that would be a bit of a stretch since I don’t really have much of a musical aptitude. I was simply swept with life and chores.

A mom and home-maker is one really tough job. The toughest one I had/have ever. Hmm, its also stressful and every so often I find myself frustrated that I cannot do this and that, but then that’s only for a while. I realize I’m lucky and I think feeling like that is normal. Thankfully, I have several hobbies like digi scrapping that keeps me calm and relieves stress.

Right now I’m still digging vintage-y and grunge-y effects. And I made a few buttons (with no holes), I keep thinking of those fabric embossed buttons. My mom used to have dresses before with buttons with floral fabric designs.

This is for Personal Use only (PU only). I was thinking of making it available for any use, but I made use of Crazy-Alice Vintage Floral Patterns on some of the buttons and she only allows Personal Use, so let’s abide with that. Credits also to Ars Grafik for some text brushes used.

Artscow Kit Preview: Cherry Blossoms

Here’s what I had been working on for sometime and I’m quite shamefaced to admit that this has been stalled for sometime already. Put on the backburner so to speak coz my plate is quite full right now. I know sometimes I feel like I’m suffering from apidexin side effects but I’ve trying little by little to finish this and it looks like I’m making some progress.

I’m making a kit based on cherry blossoms. I love these blooms, and I can’t help but think pink, romance, warmth, love and friendship when I see colors associated with this.

I will be releasing this exclusively for Artscow Free of charge. So Artscow members can add this kit to their accounts and use it on their personalized photo project free of charge. I’m still thinking if I’ll release this here as a kit, but if I do this, I’ll be adding more elements and backgrounds for more flexibility.

Till then and till I can finish the whole set, I’m just posting a preview of the kit:

Scrapping Resource: GrannyArt

This resource is simply awesome. It’s one of my favorite resources for commercial and unlimited use scrapbooking and graphic elements.   Granny is one awesome digital art maker. I keep imagining her wearing prescription sunglasses and having the time of her life creating fabulous digital art. And what makes her even more awesome is her generosity in sharing her artwork to the community.

Scrapping Freebies at GrannyArt.Blogspot.com

The artist behind GrannyArt is really a granny. And I was totally surprised when I read on her ‘About Page that she in fact has 5 children, 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. How cool is that.

She has lots of freebies available, scrapping elements like flowers, baskets, and she has some totally adorable characters. Check out her blog site.

Custom Cushion Pillow Case Templates

It’s been like eons since I last designed for Artscow and I’ve been browsing my shared templates there to check out what I’ve done last time. I think I had been fixated on cosmetic bags and cushion pillow cases and of course no yomega yoyo or any other gift stuff. I made a lot of cosmetic cases mostly because I was ordering a few for Christmas and I also made pillow cases just coz I like them. Lol. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that my pillow case designs attracted a lot of copies. Yay! Somebody else must have liked em.

Anyway, I’ll be sharing them here. Some sort of teaser/preview. If you want some personalized pillow cases, you can order these from Artscow. Use of the  template is free, you just need to pay for the pillow (about $13.99 each) and the shipping.

Software: NexusFont Manager

This isn’t strictly a graphic design or digiscrapping resource but designers would surely find this very useful. When I started playing around with graphic designing, I had just the basic fonts. But as you go along you tend to accumulate a lot of resources, like textures, images, vectors etc etc. And one way to enhance  a design or to make it standout is to use a well suited and unique font. So as time goes, you also accumulate hundreds if not thousands of fonts.

It works the same way as you thinking you don’t need any Tube Bending but end up with thousands of it. After a while I just noticed, I had thousands of fonts and I seriously can’t keep track of it. Also, if you install all these fonts, well for sure your computer system is bound to slow down.

The best solution now is to have a font manager where you can keep all your font collection in one folder and be able to preview each font to see if its suitable for each project. Now there are loads of font managers, paid or free out there, check out Smashing Magazine’s list of 25 Font Management Tools for various OS/platforms to check out what is most suitable for you.

NexusFont Interface

As for myself, I found a good match and I would highly recommend this free Font Manager called NexusFont.

NexusFont Interface

There are several things I love about this font manager..

  • its Free!
  • Yes, its free but its still an awesome piece of software. With a well designed interface and its very intuitive. You don’t have to be a genius to figure out how it works.
  • Keep all your fonts in one folder and manage it from there.
  • Easy install and uninstall of fonts direct from the NexusFont interface.
  • Automatic Font Activation. You don’t need to install a font. If your NexusFont is open, then you can automatically use all fonts inside it. So it doesn’t slow down your system.
  • You can create folders/sets/libraries. I segregated my fonts to sets like: Grunge, Dingbats, Handwritted/Scrapbook, Script etc. Makes it easy to find fonts I need.
  • Font Preview.
  • Portable. One of its best features. Not all computers have my fonts and I don’t need to download each one by one if I need to work remotely. So I get to have NexusFont on my USB and plug and play on any computer.
  • Duplicate searcher. Happens if you have thousands of fonts and this comes in handy to clean up some space.
